Character Education

Greenfield Elementary School has been named a 2023 National School of Character by Character.org!

Community Service

The Greenfield School community has been busy this year.

The Greenfield Casual for a Cause staff committee was successful again this year in providing holiday meals, gas cards and gifts for eight families.  The committee has been in existence for over 18 years.  Fridays are casual days and staff donate $1 to “the cause”.  In addition to our Friday donations, we have outside donations from community members who know of our program as well as former staff members who still contribute.  A huge thank you to Robyn Tarnow and her class from Pierce Elementary who donated an entire Thanksgiving meal to one of our families.

Veterans were honored at Greenfield’s coney night on November 11th.  Families attended the event and shared in family dinner, games and crafts.  Donations were collected for veterans in the hospital and homeless veterans.  The donations were delivered and greatly appreciated.

The entire Greenfield community collected coats for the homeless shelter in Southfield.  Coats and warm clothing items were delivered to the South Oakland Shelter (SOS).  These donations help the shelter meet the basic needs of individuals and families in crisis.  They don’t just help homeless people – they end homelessness for people every day through emergency shelter, housing and supportive service programs.

For the past 28 years our annual Greenfield Ring of Caring canned food drive has helped the Lighthouse of Oakland County distribute Thanksgiving dinner baskets and daily food to families in the area. This year students brought in a phenomenal amount of food donations, our own Greenfield Cub Scout Pack 1029 packed up the donations, and their parents delivered them to the Lighthouse.  We couldn’t provide this help without each member of this school community and greatly thank them!

Thank you to entire Greenfield community for showing their true spirit of giving!

National Certification is the highest level of distinction bestowed by Character.org.  Schools receiving this designation have demonstrated excellence in establishing a school culture that exemplifies and brings to life the 11 Principals Framework for Schools: A Guide to Cultivating a Culture of Character.

In addition to the unwavering commitment, Greenfield has created a caring and compassionate school culture. Our school completed a lengthy application process and successfully navigated two rounds of evaluation to get to this extraordinary accomplishment!

In 2018-2019 and again in 2022-2023, Greenfield was recertified as a National School of Character by Character.org.  See more details at Character.org Press Release

Congratulations to ALL of the students, staff and our entire Greenfield Community!
